Paving

Paving stones held together, using both horizontal and vertical strapping.

Paving stones are transported to the site as a package, with or without pallet. When pallets are used, fewer cycles are needed to stabilize the load. If the stones are held together without a pallet, two conditions must be met in order to ensure that the vertical bands are not damaged.

First, the bottom of the pile caught by the clamp of the gripper, ie there should not be called brief clip used. Secondly, to ensure that the piles are not pushed onto the vehicle, ie vehicles must be loaded from either side.

Straps are placed horizontally and vertically. The position and number of straps depends on the question, "with or without a pallet, "and the respective stone sizes. If the load is not palletized, it is important that the horizontal strapping of the load starts at the bottom layer. If stones are palletised, then for example placing two straps vertically and two or three times horizontally. The use of plastic strap is becoming more common because of the better long term properties they provide is more suitable than PP Polyester strap.

Before the cargo is ready to strap, a side fence makes sure that any holes between the stones is closed. The piles would otherwise be unstable, and vibrate loose during transit through a strapping line.

Loads covered with a Top sheet

It is a trend to place a Top sheet on top of the load, to ensure that no rain can penetrate the load but this can also be used for advertising purposes. The Top sheet is normally fastened with straps. Production data can also be printed on the sheet with inkjet printers, which operate satisfactorily, even in harsh conditions as concrete factories.

Providing the stone cube does not have too sharp an edge, it is possible to secure load the with vertical strapping. However, it is different, with tuile du nord. It is possible that, due to the serrated edges, the vertical strapping does not provide sufficient support and that the top sheet is pulled off.

It should never happen, that a loaded vehicle travelling at 80 km / h should suddenly loose any of it’s top sheet as this could cause a serious accident.  Care should be taken to ensure that the Top sheet is properly positioned, before vertical and horizontal straps are applied.
