The collation of tiles
 
Tiles are transported on pallets. An elevator takes them to the roof in stacks of about 7 pieces. If necessary, columns are formed so as to maximize consistency across the pallet. There is a great deal work within the tile industry for automated strapping machines.
These automatic strapping machines are specially designed for the high speed packaging and reliability.  A second unit is normally situated to act as a standby and can be manually or automatically actuated if the first stops or misses a strap.
 
If the normal method of stacking not comply, then stacks can be secured using fiberglass tape.  
 
Sharp and narrow piles are bundled by a separate machine.
